Privacy Policy
Last updated:
The Neoteric Academy of Art ("we", "us", "our") operates theneotericarts.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, apply to a program, or contact us; how we use it; and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you apply, enquire, book a session, or join our mailing list, we collect what you provide. For an application that typically means your name, email address, phone number if you give one, where you are, a link to your work if you share one, and your answers to the questions we ask — including what you write in your own words.
Information about a student, given by a parent or guardian. If you apply on behalf of someone aged fourteen to seventeen, we collect that student's name and age from you, along with your own contact details. See “Applications Involving Minors” below.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site we collect technical information about your device and visit — your IP address, browser and device type, the page that referred you, the pages you view, and how you move through them.
We do not take payment on this Site. Tuition, session fees and residency payments are handled through separate, secure payment providers, and card details are never entered here or stored by us.
How We Use It
We use the information we collect to:
- Read and respond to your application or enquiry;
- Arrange interviews, consultations and sessions;
- Administer enrollment and keep our own records of students and applicants;
- Operate, maintain and improve the Site;
- Understand how visitors use the Site;
- Write to you about the academy where you have agreed to hear from us;
- Protect the Site against abuse and security risks;
- Meet our legal obligations.
Cookies and Analytics
We set a first-party cookie (`_fp_cid`) to recognize a returning browser for analytics, and we use your browser's own storage to remember things like a half-finished application so you can come back to it. That stored application stays in your browser until you submit it or clear it.
No third-party analytics or advertising scripts run on this Site. Rather than loading Google's or anyone else's tags into your browser, the Site sends a small request to our own server, which passes anonymous usage measurements on to Google Analytics. The practical difference to you is that no advertising network receives data directly from your browser through this Site.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings. Some things — such as resuming a part-finished application — will stop working if you do.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With the services that help us run the academy — website hosting, email, analytics, scheduling, and the system we keep applicant and student records in — each under an obligation to protect it;
- When the law requires it, or to protect our legal rights;
- If the academy is ever transferred to new ownership, subject to this Policy.
Applications are read by Lisa Silas and Matthew Riggs. They are not circulated further, and the work you show us is not published anywhere without asking you first.
Applications Involving Minors
The teen Conservatory is for students aged fourteen to seventeen, so parts of this Site are meant to be read by parents and guardians about a young person. We ask that an application for anyone under eighteen be made by a parent or guardian, not by the student. Where that happens we collect the student's first name and age, and we correspond with the adult who applied.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under sixteen through this Site. If you believe a young person has given us information themselves, write to us and we will delete it.
How Long We Keep It
We keep applications and correspondence for as long as we need them to run admissions and keep our records, and for as long as the law requires. You can ask us to delete what we hold about you and we will, unless we are required to keep it.
Your Choices
You may:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you;
- Ask us to correct or delete it;
- Withdraw an application at any time;
- Unsubscribe from our emails using the link in any of them.
Depending on where you live you may have further rights — for example under the CCPA if you are in California, or the GDPR if you are in the European Economic Area — including rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your information. Contact us using the details below to exercise any of them. If you are outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States.
Text Messages
If you give us your phone number and agree to it, we may text you about your application or a booked session — confirmations, reminders and the like. Consent to texts is never a condition of applying, and we write by email either way. Reply STOP at any time to stop them, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.
No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. SMS consent data is never shared with anyone.
Do Not Track
The Site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
Changes
We may update this Policy. The current version is always on this page with its "last updated" date.
